Keyboard Shortcuts (Mac)

Global Shortcuts

These shortcuts work anywhere on your Mac:

  • Open Defer: Customizable in Settings
  • Paste Into Defer: Customizable in Settings

Shortcuts while App is Focused

  • New Task: ⌘N
  • Settings: ⌘,
  • Quit: ⌘Q

Task Management

When working with tasks:

  • Complete/Uncomplete: E
  • Edit: Return/Enter
  • Snooze: Z
  • Add/Edit Link: K
  • Delete: Delete key
  • Copy: ⌘C
  • Cut: ⌘X

Snooze Shortcuts

When using the snooze menu:

  • Today: T
  • Tomorrow: R
  • This Weekend: W
  • Next Week: N

Multi-Select Mode

When multiple tasks are selected:

  • Select All: ⌘A
  • Clear Selection: Esc
  • Complete Selected: E
  • Delete Selected: Delete
  • Copy as List: ⌘C
  • Cut Selected: ⌘X
  • Snooze Selected: Z

Siri Integration

Defer integrates with Siri for hands-free task management. You can:

  1. Add Tasks

    • “Hey Siri, defer something”
    • “Hey Siri, add a task to Defer”
    • “Hey Siri, create a task in Defer”
  2. Natural Language

    • Siri understands dates: “Defer call John tomorrow”
    • Works with times: “Defer meeting at 3pm”
    • Supports relative dates: “Defer review project next week”

Apple Shortcuts

Defer provides several actions for use in the Shortcuts app:

Available Actions

  1. Add Task

    • Adds a new task to Defer
    • Supports natural language date parsing
    • Automatically extracts URLs
    • Parameters:
      • Task text (required)
  2. Complete Task(s)

    • Marks selected tasks as complete
    • Can handle multiple tasks at once
    • Triggers completion webhooks if configured
  3. Delete Task(s)

    • Removes selected tasks from Defer
    • Can handle multiple tasks at once
    • Triggers deletion webhooks if configured
